Design week 2025: Non Planar 3d printing with Grasshopper
Plastic mini vase printed with droops and non planar layers printed on an Ender 3 Max 3d printer with sparkly green PLA
For this years Design Week I led a workshop where participants were exposed to Grasshopper, Rhinos parametric modeling software. By using my software participants were able to break away from the common misconceptions of 3d printing resulting in the potential of non planar prints, prints with bumps or droops and so much more.
Make it
Grasshopper, is Rhinos parametric modeling software. instead of modeling a specific item, users can define a set of rules to create systems to make things. Shown here is the definition given to participants starting from the left users can implement any piece of Rhino Geometry and export G-Code for a Prusa MK4 3D printer.
